German U-Boat Sunk in Battle!

May 9, 1942: The U-352, a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine, was sunk off the coast of North Carolina on this date. The U-352 was sunk by depth charges launched by the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Icarus. Fifteen members of the crew were killed in the engagement. The remaining 33 crewmen became the first German prisoners of war on U.S. soil. WATCH THE VIDEO!
